What type of incentive would we need to break our cake-fast? A traveling cake that will only be in its location for a week, that's what. The traveling "celebration cake" will only be at Clayton High School through homecoming this weekend. So we had to get there, or wait until we could catch it at some other location later. I'm not sure this cake will ever have a permanent home. So, since the girls don't have school tomorrow, I decided to head out to Clayton on the way home. Not that it's on the way home...but I didn't tell Chloe that.
Holly spotted this cake from the car...along with the giant shoe. She was elated. She has missed caking! Chloe...not so much.
Chloe was very annoyed to have to stop and get out of the car and take a picture of the cake. But you wouldn't know it from the pictures. She smiled like a pro! She wanted to go home, but I told her that we were going to grab a few cake pictures. The traveling cake was next...right down the road.
I like this one. It's just fun!
Chloe was REALLY ready to head home after that cake, but to be honest, the traffic headed towards home was absolutely awful. I didn't have my cake book, though, with all of the locations. So I texted Tom, and he looked up the Clayton cakes for me. Again, Holly was thrilled. Can you tell the way that she sashayed along by these pictures?
Chloe walked along behind, muttering the whole way about these cakes. But when she got there, she was interested enough to check it out and look for the artist's signature.
This is the "pretend the candle is hot" shot:
What do you mean, we're not finished looking for cakes yet?!? These cakes were all really close together...it would have been terrible not to get them all. I told Chloe to cope.
This is the Historic Hanley House. Beautiful spot!
The girls were excited to see a chipmunk by the county courthouse. They tried to toss him a few acorns, but he ran under the sidewalk.
Gotta take advantage of the huge grassy area at the courthouse!
When I saw the angle of the sun, I decided to try a shot that I've seen other folks get. See how the sun lights up the candle!

Chloe suggested a "we're so tired of caking" picture. She's so funny. Such melodrama! You'd have thought I was torturing her. Then when we got home, she said, "I've had a pretty fine day today!" She was excited to be the car DJ all the way home. (She gets to use my iPhone to control the music in the car.) I should have just appointed her car DJ sooner, I think! And Holly was beyond thrilled to find cakes. She really has missed it!
This is the latest that we've been out caking. We really don't have that many left...I hope we can see them all!

P.S. While I've been updating pictures, Chloe's been busy. She's been writing stories and drawing pictures...among them, this:
Seriously, it wasn't that bad! It was absolutely beautiful outside! And I swear, Chloe actually had fun. What a riot this is!
