Here's Chloe, on the first day of 3rd grade! Chloe had a great attitude about going back, but if you asked her, I think she'd tell you that she'd really rather not go to school at all. It's the early mornings...
Chloe fixes her hair all by herself these days. She's doing such a great job!
And here's our Kindergarten girl! She was a little nervous, but mostly really excited to be going to school. Holly loves school!
Holly likes posing for pictures!
Chloe told Holly, "I'm so glad you're going to be at our school now!" We've been having lots of fun driving to school together. We have more time, since we don't have to drop Holly off at preschool anymore!
Chloe and Holly are both off to a great start. Chloe said that third grade is "not so bad!" Holly is always grinning from ear to ear every time I see her in the hallways or at lunch. Lunches have been really funny. The girls have wanted to buy their lunches these two days, but they bought completely different things. On Thursday, Chloe ordered bosco sticks, and Holly got the chicken patty. Today, the choices were Dominos cheese pizza or BBQ riblet. Chloe wanted the pizza of course. But Holly doesn't like cheese pizza. I tried to talk her into the riblet, which I knew she'd love if she tried it. She said, "But I can't order that, 'cause I can't even remember how to say it!" So I wrote it down on a piece of paper for her, and she put the note in her backpack. At lunch, I checked on her when I dropped of my class to eat, and she said, "This is so YUM!"
So far, so good! It's amazing to me to see how the girls have both matured so much in the course of a year...seeing these babies navigating their way around this big 'ole elementary school amazes me. When I started teaching at Long 19 years ago, it was a school of 350 students. Now there are 610. This is my 24th year teaching overall. That just goes to show you that time flies, whether you're having fun or not. Good thing it's fun more so than not!
We'll get to some weekend caking in the next couple of weeks. We need some recovery time from the beginning of the school year first.
