There are two Ameren cakes. One that was put on display for the public (on the right in the picture below), and one that was only on display inside the building for employees. This weekend, they were having some kind of special picnic at Ameren, and the "employee only" cake was put outside. Word quickly got out among the crazy cake community, and cakers flocked to the scene to snag a picture of the elusive, heavily guarded, cake. I was tickled to get a picture this afternoon! Crazy, I know! But caking is an obsession around here...what can I say?
We have four cakes that we haven't collected in downtown St. Louis. We got three of them today. The first on the list, after the extra cake we grabbed above, was the Old Post Office. I think that the girls are dressed perfectly for this cake! And I didn't even plan it that way!
Next was the Missouri Athletic Club...not an especially easy one to get to. I parked on the opposite side of the street, and we jaywalked. There isn't a game in town, so traffic was really light.
Then we went to the St. Louis City Hall cake. This one needs to be restored; the front is flaking. But the fleur de lis are terrific! Each one has a different detail.
The weather today was absolutely perfect! I would have loved to spend more time outside taking pictures. But we had to get groceries, and there's housework to be done at home. (I'm still stalling on that, can you tell?)
Getting closer to the end of our cake quest! Only 30 more to go...25 until we hit 250!
